What sets the VP4 apart from standard thermostats is its integrated semi-automatic push-button defrost mechanism. When frost builds up heavily on the freezer compartment’s cooling plate, the user manually presses the white button in the center of the dial knob. This physically forces the internal electrical contacts open, completely shutting off the compressor. The compressor remains safely disabled until the evaporator plate warms up enough for the ice to melt, at which point the button automatically pops back out and restores normal cooling cycles.
