Description
Item Description: Danfoss KP15 Dual Pressure Switch The Danfoss KP15 is a heavy-duty, dual-bellows pressure control switch designed primarily to regulate and protect commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems. It functions as a dual-purpose safety device by continuously monitoring both the Low Pressure (LP) and High Pressure (HP) sides of a system. Low-Pressure Protection: Prevents the system’s compressor from running when there is a drop in refrigerant pressure (which could indicate a leak, frozen coil, or loss of charge). High-Pressure Protection: Shuts off power immediately if system pressures spike abnormally high (preventing component damage, over-pressurization, or system failure). Depending on the specific variant (e.g., KP15 060-124166 or 060-124366), it features either an Automatic Reset (which restarts the machinery once safe pressures return) or a Manual Reset (requiring a technician to manually press a button before operation can resume). Compatible Mechanisms & Machinery The KP15 is highly versatile and acts as a control element for a variety of mechanical and electrical systems, including: 1. HVAC & Refrigeration Machinery Commercial Compressors: Directly interfaces with the contactor circuits of reciprocating, scroll, and semi-hermetic refrigeration compressors to control or cut power. Condensing Units & Chillers: Used heavily in walk-in cold rooms, commercial freezers, liquid chillers, and industrial HVAC plants. Condenser Fan Motors: Can be wired to cycle condenser fans on and off based on high-side pressures. 2. General Industrial Pump Mechanics Gas Compressors: Air compressors and industrial gas delivery systems operating within the control’s specific pressure tolerances. Water and Booster Pumps: Often utilized in specialized boiler systems, steam power plants, and maritime fluid systems to prevent dry-running or over-pressurization. 3. Refrigerant Compatibility The internal bellows mechanisms are engineered to resist degradation when exposed to a wide array of fluorinated refrigerants (fluorinated hydrocarbons). It is explicitly compatible with: Standard & HFC Refrigerants: R22, R134a, R404A, R407A, R407C, R407F, R422B, R422D, R507A. Low-GWP & HFO Refrigerants: R1234yf, R1234ze(E), R448A, R449A, R450A, R452A, R513A, R515B. ⚠️ Note: The standard KP15 is not compatible with ammonia (NH 3 ) systems. For ammonia applications, a specialized version (like the Danfoss KP15A) must be used.
