Product Description The Acti9 iPRD40 is a Type 2, pluggable modular surge arrester designed for three-phase plus neutral (3P+N) electrical systems. It operates like a high-speed pressure relief valve for electricity: under normal conditions, it remains idle, but the millisecond a high-voltage surge enters the panel, it instantly channels the excess energy safely into the earth before it can reach and destroy downstream computers, appliances, or machinery. Key Features 3P+N Configuration: Provides comprehensive protection across all three phase lines and the neutral line, making it ideal for standard commercial three-phase distribution networks. 40kA Maximum Discharge Current (I max ): Rated to withstand and dissipate massive, momentary surge impulses up to 40,000A. Pluggable Cartridges: Built with withdrawable cartridges. If a major lightning strike sacrifices the device to save your equipment, you can simply pull out the spent cartridge and snap in a replacement plug without rewiring the base block. Earthing System Compatibility: Specifically optimized for TT and TN-S earthing configurations. Compatible Components and Mechanisms Because an SPD acts as a sacrificial defense barrier, it must be integrated precisely into a modular panel network to function correctly: 1. In-Panel Equipment Compatibility Upstream Disconnector (MCB or Fuse): An SPD must always be paired with a coordinated upstream Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) or fuse (typically a 20A to 50A C-curve breaker). This ensures that if the SPD permanently shorts out while soaking up a massive surge, the circuit breaker will trip and safely isolate the spent SPD from the live grid. Main Distribution Panels: Mounts directly onto standard 35mm wide DIN rails inside main incoming switchboards or sub-panels, ideally positioned right next to the main incoming isolator switch.
