Product Description: Telemecanique / Schneider Electric LR2D13 Thermal Overload Relay The Telemecanique LR2D13 (commonly integrated under the Schneider Electric TeSys D range) is a 3-pole bimetallic thermal overload relay designed to protect AC circuits and electric motors against overloads, phase failures, long starting times, and prolonged stalling of the motor. It features an adjustable current setting dial (the exact range depends on the sub-model suffix, such as 5.5A to 8A on the LR2D1312), a manual/auto reset selector, a test button to simulate tripping, and a clear visual trip indicator flag. It also includes integrated auxiliary contacts (1 NO + 1 NC) to wire directly into a control circuit. Key Features Motor Protection: Class 10A tripping characteristics (standard motor protection). Phase Failure Sensitivity: Trips out safely if one of the three phases drops, preventing “single-phasing” damage. Control Interface: Integrated 1 NO+1 NC auxiliary contacts for signaling faults or interrupting contactor coils. Direct Mounting: Designed with rigid plug-in pins to mount directly to the bottom of a matching contactor, saving space in an electrical enclosure. Compatible Mechanisms & Control Gear The LR2D13 is a safety component that must plug into a magnetic contactor to actually cut the power when a fault occurs. It is designed to interface with the following mechanisms and machinery: 1. Direct Contactor Compatibility Compatible Control Mechanisms: Telemecanique / Schneider Electric LC1D09, LC1D12, LC1D18, LC1D25, and LC1D32 3-pole AC contactors. Application: The copper prongs on top of the LR2D13 line up perfectly with the bottom screw terminals of these specific contactors. Together, they form a complete “Motor Starter.” 2. Standard Three-Phase Induction Motors Compatible Mechanisms: Industrial water pumps, extraction fans, conveyor systems, mixers, air compressors, and machine tool spindles. Application: You match the LR2D13’s current range dial to the Full Load Amps (FLA) rating printed on your motor’s nameplate. If the mechanism jams (e.g., a conveyor belt gets stuck) and the motor starts drawing too much current, the thermal relay heats up and cuts the control circuit before the motor windings melt. 3. Star-Delta (Wye-Delta) Motor Starters Compatible Mechanisms: Large mechanical loads requiring reduced-voltage starting, like industrial chillers, heavy-duty wood saws, or large rock crushers. Application: It integrates into multi-contactor control panels to monitor line currents during both the initial startup phase and normal running operation. 4. Direct Mounting Accessories (For Independent Mounting) Compatible Mechanisms: LA7D1064 Terminal Block Adapter. Application: If you do not want to plug the LR2D13 directly into a contactor, it is fully compatible with the LA7D1064 adapter block. This converts the plug-in prongs into standard screw terminals so you can mount the relay independently onto a standard 35mm DIN rail.
